Early this month, I was invited by GO Communications to go for Sungai Pulai Wellness Resort Ground Breaking Ceremony on Sunday (11.01.2015).
Since the event is not held in KL, they specially arranged us – the invited medias, a bus to travel down Johor Bahru one day earlier.
I would say this is First Of Its Kind Wellness Resort to develop 75 acres of all-encompassing wellness resort next to a Ramsar site. And the developer is Dimensi Panorama, a member of MB Group.
With much said in recent times about the management of Malaysia’s natural resources and eco-diversity, one entity has risen to the occasion to develop one of the country’s gems into a wellness sanctuary. Dimensi Panorama Sdn Bhd, a member of MB Group will champion healthy living and promote eco-tourism through Sungai Pulai Wellness Resort – the only residential project of its kind, which serves to cement Malaysia’s southern region as a popular retreat and eco-attraction.
The project will promote resort-styled multigenerational healthy living amidst pristine lush green surroundings. Highly heralded by various parties, the initiative was officially launched today at a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony on-site at Sungai Pulai – the third Ramsar site in Iskandar Malaysia.
The Ramsar Convention established in 1971 under a treaty signed by 168 countries to uphold the conservation and sustainable utilisation of wetlands, lists wetlands of internationally recognised natural treasure and importance, and provides the single most important framework for intergovernmental cooperation on the conservation of the wetlands and its issues.
Through the development of the Wellness Resort next to a Ramsar site, Dimensi Panorama aims to accentuate Iskandar Malaysia’s position globally – not only in promoting a valuable and unique eco-diversity, but also a great opportunity for eco-tourism and leisure activities focused on wellness.
“We see it not only as our responsibility, but also privilege and honour to lead the Sungai Pulai Wellness Resort project near a Ramsar site. This project is our pledge to continuously uphold the Convention’s mission and objectives of conserving and facilitating the sustainable usage of our prized wetlands,” said Mr. Amir Shariffuddin Bin Abd. Raub, Director of MB Group during his speech at the ceremony.
Commending the initiative, Johor’s Chief Minister, Y.A.B Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Bin Nordin, who officiated the ceremony said, “Together with the rapid economic development in Iskandar Malaysia, Sungai Pulai Wellness Resort will significantly support the State and the Government’s mission of preserving the natural heritage of the wetlands. This works towards the sustainable development of the region to boost the commercial aspect of the country as well.”

Listed as one of the most investment-friendly countries in Asia, Malaysian properties are known for relatively low purchase cost and taxes. Global Property Guide 2014 ranked Malaysia second in Asia in residential property value and was placed the ninth most popular real estate market in the world by CNBC a few years ago. “We want to establish Sungai Pulai Wellness Resort as a health and wellness resort, offering residents a peaceful and tranquil lifestyle, with the availability of basic and non-invasive wellness therapies,” added Mr. Amir.
The development comprises of 1,351 apartment units and landed properties, a wellness club house and a renowned international brand hotel located next to the conserved wetlands. The residential precincts will be constructed in four phases and will consist of only low-density developments with buildings not extending beyond 12 levels to maintain the natural green landscape.
Each precinct will offer its residents comprehensive and extensive recreational and relaxation facilities such as pools, children’s playgrounds, gymnasium, landscaped gardens and lawns, and barbecue decks. Sungai Pulai Wellness Resort brings the Seven Dimensions of Wellness – Family Health Care, Preventive and Regenerative Care, Aesthetic and Beauty Care, Physical Care, Holistic Health Care, Fitness Care, and Concierge Medical Services Care, into the 160,000 sq. ft. wellness clubhouse that serves all residents.
It sets a benchmark for wellness retreat services that include physiotherapy and chiropractic treatments, nutrition consultation, scheduled fitness classes and many other valuable services. In addition, the Concierge Medical Services (CMS) will immensely supplement the wellness clubhouse. The developer are so kind to rent a helicopter for inviting the VIPs and Medias to fly around the Project and Ramsar site. No doubt, that’s the best way to let us experience the actual site.
Not only that, we also had a chance to experience river cruise along the Ramsar site for about 20 minutes.
